Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the website of Brian D. Shapiro, Chapter 7 Trustee (the "Trustee"), handles information. The site provides general information to debtors, creditors, and other parties in bankruptcy cases assigned to the Trustee in the District of Nevada.

Information this site collects

This website does not ask you to create an account, and it does not collect personal information through forms on the site.

• Document checklist. If you check items on the document checklist, your selections are saved only in your own web browser on your device. They are not sent to the Trustee or anyone else.
• Contact the trustee box. This box opens your own email program with a message already filled in. Nothing is sent until you send the email yourself.
• Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view. This information is used to operate and secure the site.

Information you send to the Trustee

Emails, documents, and other information you send to the Trustee's office are received in the Trustee's official capacity and are used to administer bankruptcy cases. The Trustee may share that information with the U.S. Trustee Program, the Bankruptcy Court, parties in the case, law enforcement, or others when required or permitted by law or in carrying out the Trustee's duties. Please do not send sensitive information by email unless it is needed.

Bankruptcy cases are public proceedings. Petitions, schedules, and other documents filed with the Bankruptcy Court are generally available to the public, and meetings of creditors are recorded.

Document upload portal

Debtors without an attorney may upload documents through a secure portal operated by a third-party provider, Stretto. Information you provide there is handled under that provider's own terms and privacy policy. Attorneys who upload documents for their clients use a separate secure portal.

Links to other websites

This site links to other websites, including the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the U.S. Trustee Program, the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, the State Bar of Nevada, and Zoom. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and the Trustee is not responsible for them.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when the page loads.

Children

This site is intended for adults involved in bankruptcy cases and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The effective date above shows when it was last revised.
