Questions from debtors
- What if I can't attend my meeting at the scheduled time?
- It is highly recommended that you attend your meeting at the date and time listed in your Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case. If you fail to attend, your case could be subject to dismissal. If you have an attorney, contact your attorney right away.
- What happens if my documents are late?
- I must receive your documents at least 7 days before your meeting. If they are late, your case could be dismissed and/or your meeting could be continued.
- Do I need to speak with the trustee before the meeting?
- No. You do not need to speak with me before the meeting. Send your documents on time and join the Zoom meeting at your scheduled time.
- Does my spouse have to appear?
- If your spouse filed the case with you, your spouse is also a debtor. Your spouse is required to appear by Zoom video, with the camera on, and will be sworn under oath.
- How do I get the audio recording of my meeting of creditors?
- Contact the Office of the United States Trustee for the District of Nevada at (702) 388-6600.

Questions from creditors
- How do I file a proof of claim?
- The Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case will tell you whether to file a proof of claim and the deadline to do so. If the notice says not to file a claim yet and assets are later found, the court will send a new notice with a deadline. Proofs of claim are filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Nevada, not with my office. I cannot give you legal advice about your claim.
- What is the deadline to object to the debtor's discharge?
- The notice from the court lists the deadline to object to the debtor's discharge or to the discharge of a particular debt.
- Can I ask questions during the meeting of creditors?
- Yes. Creditors may question the debtor under oath about the debtor's property, debts, and financial affairs. Join with the Meeting ID and Passcode listed in the Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case. After I take roll call, I will ask if any creditors are present. Speak up or send me a Zoom chat message so I know you are there, and I will give you an opportunity to ask your questions.
- What should I do if I know the debtor did not disclose assets?
- If you know of property, transfers, income, or business interests the debtor did not disclose, use the contact box on the main page. That information can benefit every creditor in the case.
- I am a secured creditor. Where do I file a motion for relief from stay or a reaffirmation agreement?
- Motions for relief from the automatic stay and reaffirmation agreements are filed with the court.
- How do I get an audio recording of the meeting?
- Contact the Office of the United States Trustee for the District of Nevada at (702) 388-6600.
